Will we follow the same path of destroying our forests as Haiti or Madagascar? Yesterday the OEIL counted the incredible number of 556 fires in our small New Caledonian area for 23,611 hectares of land destroyed by fire since the beginning of the year! Today we are punishing biodiversity and selfishly putting the lives of our firefighters at risk. Tomorrow we will be punished by more and more water scarcity in the dry season and the increase of floods and landslides in the rainy season..... The WWF demands the awakening of the civic spirit to this vital issue in every village, tribe and family and exemplary hardship towards arsonists. We are the problem, so we are the solution!
